A depositor is someone who puts money in a bank or another place that looks after money. If you have a savings account, you are a depositor. The bank holds the money; you are the person who placed it there. The word turns up in bank notices, law, and news about banks — especially when a bank is in trouble and people ask what happens to depositors. In everyday talk, people more often say customers or people with money in the bank. Depositor is the precise, slightly official name.
