Depoliticization is the noun: the act or process of taking political influence or party control out of something, or of treating an issue as if it were not a matter of politics. People speak of the depoliticization of the courts, of a central bank, of a school curriculum, of a public health campaign. It is a word for news, government, and academic talk, not for the night market. Though actually, the word is itself often a move in an argument. One side says “this should be depoliticized” meaning “stop turning it into a party fight”; another side says the thing already is political, and calling it neutral hides someone’s power. So the tidy dictionary sense (“remove politics”) is tidier than how the word behaves in real disputes.
