Demagogic describes a way of leading or speaking that tries to stir strong feelings — fear, anger, pride — so as to swing people's opinions. It is an adjective: demagogic speech, a demagogic campaign, demagogic promises. English uses it with clear . The speaker may sound like “the voice of the people,” though actually the charge is that they are using heat instead of care, and often blaming a group to win a crowd. It is a formal, political word; you will meet it in news and essays more than in the playground.
