A dealbreaker is one part of a plan that you cannot accept, so the whole thing is off. It can be a product (no refunds — that is a dealbreaker), a job (they want you to move overseas), or a relationship (they do not want children, and you do). The rest might be fine; this one point is enough to walk away. People also write it deal-breaker or deal breaker. It is informal, everyday talk — dating, shopping, work chat — not a law-court word, though the picture is a “deal” that breaks. Though actually, it is not a person whose job is to ruin deals, and it is not a small you can live with. If you call something a dealbreaker, you mean: without this being right, I will not say yes.
