    The Cyclades are a group of Greek islands in the Aegean Sea, south-east of the Greek mainland. Naxos and Paros belong to this group; today often know Mykonos and Santorini from it too. The old Greek name comes from a word for a circle or ring, because the islands sit in a kind of ring. In English it is a proper name, always with a capital C, and we say the Cyclades. Though actually, many visitors name one island and never use the group word at all.
