    A cure-all is something people believe will fix any illness, or any problem at all. Careful speakers often use it with a small shake of the head: they mean “people think it will, but nothing works on everything.” There is no real medicine that every sickness, so the word is half a name and half a warning. Newspapers also hang it on money, , or a new law — anything sold as the answer to all troubles. It is ordinary English, a little , not a doctor’s technical term.
