1. 1

Cuban means from Cuba, or to do with Cuba — the large island country in the Caribbean, capital Havana. As an adjective: Cuban music, Cuban cigars, a Cuban passport. As a noun: a Cuban is a person from Cuba. The place itself is called Cuba; Cuban is the word for the people and for things that belong to that place. Like many country words of this kind, we write it with a capital C. People often talk about Cuban rum, cigars, and music; the country was a Communist state under Fidel Castro from 1959, and his Raúl later became president.
