    Cruddy is the everyday adjective from crud. A cruddy thing looks, smells, or feels unpleasant — dirty, cheap, worn out, or just no good. “A cruddy hotel.” “This sandwich is cruddy.” People also say “I feel cruddy” when they feel ill or low, the way you might say “I feel lousy.” It is casual American English, a bit teenage, a bit comic. It does not belong in a school essay or a job letter. Kind students sometimes worry it is a terrible swear; it is only rude, like complaining, not like attacking someone.
