A creationist is someone who believes that God made the universe in the way the Bible describes. The word is also an adjective: a creationist view, creationist teaching. It sits beside creationism, which is the belief itself — -ist for the person, - for the idea. Some creationists argue in public against the scientific story of how life has changed; many others simply hold the belief quietly. In a dictionary the word is calm and factual, but in a science classroom or in the news it can sound like a side in a fight, so the feeling depends on who is speaking. It has nothing to do with being creative.
