Crazed sounds like a story or a headline; it is not a gentle joke, and it is not a polite swap. Neutral to slightly literary. Though actually, potters and people with old plates use crazed for a surface covered in a net of tiny cracks. The object is not angry; it is shattered in a fine pattern. Same history: the old verb meant to smash, so the mind, or the glaze, has broken. That cracked-surface use is real, but the wild-person use is the one this entry is for.
