1. 1

A corpuscle is one of the tiny cells that travel in your blood — the red ones that carry oxygen, or the white ones that fight illness. Older biology books said “red corpuscles” and “white corpuscles” all the time. Today teachers and doctors more often say red blood cells and white blood cells. Corpuscle has not disappeared, but it feels a bit textbook-old, a little like 19th-century science. The picture behind the word is “a little body” — a tiny bit of living stuff. You may also meet it in very old writing for any small particle, but the blood-cell sense is the one students meet in class.

    血球(紅血球或白血球;現在課堂上更常直接說 blood cell)
