    This word has two very different uses. As a verb (said as "con-VERSE"), to converse means to talk with someone. As a noun or adjective (said as "CON-verse"), the converse of a statement is its reversed or opposite version, often used in logic or math — for example, the converse of "if it rains, the ground gets wet" is "if the ground is wet, it rained," which isn't always true.
