When things sit contiguously, they sit right next to each other, with no real gap — houses in a row, fields that share a fence, countries that touch. It is the adverb of contiguous, so it answers “how are they placed?”: hard against one another. You meet it in careful writing, maps, and science, not in chat. In ordinary talk people say next to each other or side by side. Though actually, even native speakers mix this with continuously, because the two words look so alike. Continuously is about time (going on without stopping). Contiguously is about place (touching).
