Consistency means doing something the same way every time, without big, surprising changes — being reliable. A good student shows consistency by studying regularly, not just before tests. Coaches and bosses often say consistency matters more than one great day, because people can trust someone who performs the same way again and again. The word also has a completely different, more physical meaning: the thickness or texture of a liquid or mixture, like 'the batter should have a smooth, thick consistency' when baking.
