  1. 1連接詞（文法課用語；也作形容詞「連接的」，如 connective tissue 結締組織）

    In school grammar, a connective is a word (or a short group of words) that joins parts of a sentence or joins one idea to the next. And, but, or, because, so, however, therefore, and for example can all work this way. Teachers like the word because it is a wide, useful bucket: it covers little joining words and also words that show a turn in the thought.

    Though actually, careful split these into narrower groups — coordinating conjunctions, subordinating conjunctions, linking , and so on. In class, connective is the friendly cover name. It is a classroom word more than an everyday chat word; in ordinary talk people just say the joining word itself.

    The same spelling is also an adjective meaning “that joins things,” as in connective tissue in the body. That is the same family of meaning, stretched from language to the body.

組成Built like connect + -ive (“that does this / of this kind”). English once had connexive, borrowed from Latin connexīvus. In Latin loanwords, x often became ct, so the spelling moved into line with connect and connection.
