If someone is confiding, they speak or look as if they want to tell you something private. The voice often goes quiet. They may lean in. The feeling is: I have chosen you as a safe person. It is not showing off, and it is not just any chat — it is the manner of handing someone a secret. You can also call a smile, a look, or a tone confiding: the face that says, I do not tell everyone this. Though actually, the adjective is a little in everyday talk. Many people would rather use the verb: she confided in me. You still meet confiding in stories and careful writing. Do not mix it with confident. A confident person feels sure of themselves. A confiding person feels sure of you.
組成confide + -ing. Confide is to tell someone something private because you trust them; -ing here makes an adjective about that manner.
