A confidante is a woman you tell your secrets to — the female form of confidant. Novels and older letters love it. Though actually, many writers now use confidant for any gender, and the extra e can feel dated, or a bit French. Some careful style still keeps confidante when the person is a woman; everyday English often does not bother. The job is the same: a trusted listener for private things.
女性知己(較文言;口語較常說閨密)
