To computerize something is to start using a computer to run it, store it, or control how it is done. A school computerizes its records; a factory computerizes a production line. The object is usually a system, a task, or an institution — not a person. You do not “computerize a student.” It is the ordinary verb beside the noun computerization, and it belongs to the same formal, workplace register. American English writes computerize; British English often writes computerise. Though actually, in casual speech people more often say “put it on the computer” or “do it on a screen.” The -ize verb can sound like a big official project, even when the change is quite small. It is not the same as compute, which means “to calculate.”
