    Your collarbone is one of a pair of long, thin bones. Each one runs from the bottom of your neck out to the top of your shoulder. You can often feel it under the skin, like a small ridge. Doctors may say , but in ordinary English people say collarbone. It breaks quite easily in falls and bike crashes, so you hear the word in hospitals and in sport. It is named after a collar because it sits where a shirt collar would lie — though actually it is bone, not clothes.
