Coeducational describes a school, college, or system in which boys and girls are taught together. A coeducational high school takes both; a coeducational programme is one they share. It is the adjective that sits beside the noun . In casual American talk people have long it to coed, though that short form now feels dated, and for a time coed was also used of the female students at a mixed college — which is messy, and not what the full word means. The full word is clear and neutral: it is about the school, not about calling a person something.
