A clime is a place thought of by its climate — a hot clime, a colder clime, climes. Climate is the weather pattern; clime is the place that has that pattern. It is an old, word. Poets and travel writers use it; ordinary people almost never do in daily talk. You are unlikely to hear it in a Taiwan classroom unless a poem or an old story brings it in. Though actually, when people do use it today, they often put it in the plural and make it sound slightly fancy or : ‘We’re off to warmer climes.’ It is not a science word in the way climate is, and it is not a type of climbing.

組成Borrowed from Latin clima, from Ancient Greek κλίμα (klíma, a zone of latitude, literally ‘inclination’), from κλίνω (klínō, to slope, incline). Same root story as climate.
