Climatology is the science that studies climate: the usual weather of a place over many years, not this afternoon’s rain. A looks at long records of heat, rain, wind, and ice, and tries to see the pattern — and how that pattern is changing. People mix this up with , which is more about tomorrow’s typhoon and this week’s forecast; climatology is the long story. You meet it in school science, university, and news about the planet getting warmer. It is a serious, formal word. Nobody uses it for the ‘feel’ of a room, and you would not say it about a single hot day.
