A clear-out is when you go through your things and throw away, give away, or sell what you do not want any more. You might have a clear-out of a , a garage, or a whole house. The noun is everyday British English, the language of homes and , not offices. People also just use the verb: I'm going to clear out the garage. Though actually, that same verb can mean something else: Clear out! meaning leave this place, often because someone is angry. The noun a clear-out almost always means the tidying kind — stuff going out, not people being told to go.
