A ciggy is a cigarette, said the short, homely British way. You hear it in casual British talk, and sometimes Australian talk too: popping out for a ciggy, got a ciggy? It is the everyday thin smoke, not a cigar. The word already feels a little old-fashioned; younger people may just say cigarette, cig, or, in Britain, fag — though fag is a dangerous word in American English, where it is a cruel slur. You would not put ciggy in a school essay or a job email. Americans rarely say it. In Taiwan nobody says ciggy in Chinese; they just say they are going for a 菸.
