Chromophobia is a strong fear of colours. A person with it may feel panic or deep around bright colour, or around one colour in particular, and may even believe — without good reason — that something bad will happen if that colour is there. It is a rare, specialist word, built like other “fear” words. You will not hear it at the dinner table; you might meet it in psychology. People stretch colour-talk in ordinary life (“I hate orange”), but that is dislike, not chromophobia. True chromophobia is a fear that gets in the way of life.
