To choreograph is to plan and set how dancers should move in a performance: who goes where, which step, when they turn, how the group makes a picture. The person the dance the way a composer music. People stretch it: to choreograph a fight, a ceremony, even a public event means to plan every move in advance — sometimes with a slightly sharp taste of “this was all arranged.” The dance sense is the home sense; the other is a metaphor. Neutral-to-formal; dance people use it as a work verb.
