A choosy person will not take just anything. They wait for what they really like, or what they think is good enough. It can be about food, friends, clothes, jobs. It is not always a compliment and not always a complaint: it can mean careful taste, or it can mean hard to please. Informal. British English often prefers or ; choosy is widely understood, and a little old-fashioned in some mouths. Though actually, it is simply choose with a -y stuck on: “full of choosing”. About food, English may say choosy or ; in Taiwan that food sense often maps to 挑食, while choosy about other things is 很挑 / 挑剔.
組成choose + -y (“having that quality”).
