A childminder is someone who is paid to look after young children while the parents are at work. In British English this is a real job, not just a neighbour doing a favour. A childminder often looks after a few children in her or his own home, and in Britain they usually have to put their name on an official list. This is different from a babysitter, who typically comes for an evening, and different from a nursery, which is a place, not a person. In American English you are more likely to hear babysitter, nanny, or daycare. Though actually, even in Britain some people keep childminder for that official home job, and would not use it for a teenage babysitter.

保母（英國說法，多半在保母自己家帶幾個小孩，通常要登記）。台灣口語就是「保母」；托兒所、幼兒園是機構，不是這個人。
