Chemically is the adverb that belongs with chemical. It means in a chemical way, by using chemistry, or if we look at the substances. So two things can look different but be chemically the same; wood can be chemically treated so it does not rot; chemically speaking, we are talking about what something is made of and how it changes. The ground is always substances, the study of substances, or processes that change substances — the same ground as chemical — but chemically tells you how something happens or how we are talking, not what kind of thing it is. You will see it in science writing more than in chat. It does not mean ‘by a chemist’ in the shop sense, and it is not a fancy way to say ‘with medicine.’

組成chemical + -ly (‘in that way’). Chemical comes from New Latin chēmicus / chēmia. That stream came from Arabic al-kīmiyāʔ, from Greek khumeíā, the old work of mixing and pouring substances; alchemy belongs to the same story.
