A person who has reached the age of 100, or is older than that. It works as a noun ("she is a centenarian") and as an adjective ("a centenarian gardener"). You meet it most often in news stories and hospital or government writing — a country counting how many centenarians it has, a local paper visiting one on their birthday. In ordinary speech people simply say "she's a hundred" or "he turned a hundred last week". There is also supercentenarian for someone 110 or over, used by the researchers who keep records of the oldest people alive.
