    Celtic means “about the ” — their languages, music, art, or history. Irish, Welsh, and Scottish are Celtic languages; so are Breton, Cornish, and . You will also see Celtic as a football club name in Glasgow. The word is simply plus -ic, “of that people.” It has the same pronunciation split as : KEL-tic is common in schools and museums; SEL-tic is the usual one for the Glasgow club and some older English. Neither is wrong; they just belong to different rooms of the language. First used in English in the 1600s.
