- 1大英帝國司令勳章（CBE 勳銜）
A CBE is a British honour: letters the King (or, before, the Queen) gives someone for work that has helped the country — in the arts, science, business, teaching, public service, and so on. It stands for Commander of the Order of the British Empire. The old name “British Empire” is still in the title; the honour is given today for service, not for running an empire. It sits in a ladder of similar honours: is lower, OBE is in the middle, CBE is higher still. The person may write the letters after their name (Jane Smith, CBE). News stories say someone was “made a CBE” or “appointed CBE” in the honours list. It is formal and very British. It is not a job, not a university degree, and not a (that is a further step, with different letters).
