Camiknickers are a piece of women’s underwear that is one garment instead of two: the top is like a camisole (a light, usually sleeveless top), and the bottom is like knickers (pants), joined together. The word was made in the 1920s, when this shorter piece took the place of an older, fuller “combinations” garment. You will hear it mainly in British English, and it can sound a little old-fashioned now. In shops in later years the same kind of one-piece was often sold as a teddy or a body.
