A cameraman is the person who runs the camera when a film, a TV programme, or a news report is being made. He frames the shot, follows the action, and works with the director or the reporter. The word ends in -man, and for a long time people used it even when the person was a woman. Today many people prefer camera operator, which does not mark gender, or camerawoman when they want to say so. On a film set and in TV news, though, cameraman is still very common. It is a job word. Your uncle taking holiday photos is not a cameraman; that is just someone with a camera.
