Caboodle means everything — the whole lot, nothing left out. You almost always meet it in a set phrase: the whole caboodle, or the whole kit and caboodle. It is everyday American talk, a little old-fashioned and a little playful. You would not put it in a serious report. It does not name one object sitting on a table; it names 'all of it.' Older speakers and people putting on a folksy voice still like it; younger speakers may only know the phrase, not the word on its own.
