Cabling is all the wires — thick and thin — that run through a building, a machine, or a whole electrical system to carry power or pictures and sound. talk about the cabling the way other people talk about the wiring. It names the whole lot, not one single wire, so you do not usually say a cabling. You hear it in offices, factories, and homes when people mean the hidden work behind walls and ceilings. The same word can also mean the job of putting those wires in: they spent a week cabling the new floor. The sense here is the wires themselves, as a system.
