A bypass is a road that goes around a busy town or area instead of through it, so traffic can move faster. As a verb, 'to bypass' something means to go around it or skip it instead of dealing with it directly — like bypassing a rule, a problem, or a long line. In medicine, a 'heart bypass' is an operation where doctors create a new path for blood to flow around a blocked part of the heart.
