    Bye-byes is baby talk for sleep or bedtime. Parents say “time for bye-byes” or “go to bye-byes” when they put a small child to bed. It is not the usual way to say more than one goodbye — that would just be goodbyes. You almost only hear it with little children, in a gentle voice. Older children may feel you are treating them like a baby if you use it. Though actually it looks like a plural of bye-bye, the meaning has moved: here the child is going away into sleep, not goodbye to a person.
