Bunting is those small flags, often triangles, along a string or tape. People hang them across a street, a shop front, or a school hall when something is being celebrated — a national day, a wedding, a big match. The word can mean the flags themselves, or the light cloth they are made from. It feels festive and a little old-fashioned; you meet it more in writing about decorations than in everyday chat. Though actually, another word spelled the same way is a small bird, and in American English “bunting” can also mean a baby’s sleeping bag. Those are different words. This one is the flags.
組成Uncertain. It may come from a dialect word for sifting flour — the same light cloth was used for that — from Middle English bonten (“to sift”). Or it may come from a Germanic word about binding or tying things together. Nobody is sure.
