A bullfinch is a small, rather round from Europe. The male is the one people notice: a black cap, a grey back, and a warm rosy-red chest and face. The female is browner and quieter in colour. They often sit still in trees and bushes and eat seeds and buds. sometimes get cross, because a pair can pick the flower buds off a fruit tree before the flowers open. You may hear a soft, sad little whistle, not a long bright song. It is a real finch, only a one. It is not a farm bird, and it has nothing to do with fighting bulls.
