Brusqueness is the quality of being brusque — that short, sharp manner that can feel rude. People talk about someone’s brusqueness, or the brusqueness of a reply. It names the manner itself. It is rather formal; in everyday talk a student might just say “He was so short with me” instead. Though actually, brusqueness is not the same as being angry. A person can be calm and still show brusqueness, because they will not spend extra words on kindness.
