A blowpipe is a long, thin tube used as a weapon. You put a small dart, stone, or arrow in it, then blow hard so the dart flies out. Some hunters have used it for real, sometimes with poison on the tip. It is not a toy, though a child’s pea-shooter is a weaker cousin of the same idea. Though actually, English also uses blowpipe for a tube you blow through in glass-making, or in a lab to aim a flame — same pipe you blow into, different job. The meaning here is the weapon.
