To blow-dry hair is to dry it with an electric , and usually to push it into a shape at the same time — smooth, lifted, or curled under. do this all day; people also do it at home after washing. It is everyday English, not fancy. You blow-dry hair, not shirts or dishes. Though actually, the dry part is only half the job: the heat, the air, and a brush together are what give the style. You will also hear a blow-dry as a noun, meaning that treatment at a salon.
