An athlete who runs on curved springy blades fixed to their legs, because the lower part of one or both legs is missing.
「blade runner」講的是一種跑者。他的小腿以下不在了，換上碳纖維做的彎刀形義肢。那片義肢跑起來像彈簧，會把人往前推，形狀又薄又彎，所以叫 blade（刀鋒）。要注意這個詞指的是「人」，而且通常是運動場上的選手。義肢本身叫 running blades，不叫 blade runner。平常裝義肢走路上班的人，一般也不會用這個詞來稱呼。中文報導多半直接寫「刀鋒跑者」。另外有一部同名電影，那是片名，跟這個意思不一樣。
