Bitchy means and unpleasant about other people — snide, cutting, often in a small personal way rather than a loud fight. People say a bitchy remark, a bitchy mood, or that someone is being bitchy today. Informal, slightly rude. Though actually, the tidy meaning hides a social habit: English speakers have long used this word more about women, and many people now dislike that. The sharp comment is real; pinning the label on one gender is not fair. Do not use it in formal writing, and be careful who you say it about — it can hurt, even when you mean it as a joke. It is not about dogs, and it is not the same as , which means “great.”
