Bird-watching is the hobby of going out to look at wild birds and trying to tell which kind you have seen. People also write it as one word, birdwatching. The person who does it is a bird-watcher (or birder, which sounds more insider). A line that calls bird-watching “someone” mixes the hobby with the person — English keeps them apart. It is a quiet outdoor activity, often early in the morning; some people keep a list of every kind they have ever spotted. You can do it with cheap in a park, or travel a long way for one rare bird.
「bird-watching」是到戶外看野鳥，並試著判斷是哪一種鳥的嗜好。也可以寫成一個字 birdwatching。做這件事的人叫 bird-watcher，也說 birder，後者比較像行家的用語。英文會把「這項活動」和「做這件事的人」分得很清楚。
這是安靜的戶外活動，常在清晨進行。有人會記下看過的每一種鳥，有人用便宜的雙筒望遠鏡在公園裡看，也有人為了一隻稀有的鳥遠行。
