If you are besotted with someone or something, you love or want it so much that you cannot think or act in a sensible way. A parent can be besotted with a new baby; a fan can be besotted with a singer. It is stronger than like, and a little less than in love — other people can see that you have lost your head. Though actually the older meaning is about drink: a sot was a person who drank too much, so besotted first meant made foolish by wine. You may still see that sense in older books. Today, besotted with almost always means this helpless fondness, not alcohol. It is a little ; friends might just say crazy about. The usual pattern is besotted with, not a plain verb “to besot someone” in everyday talk.
組成From besot + -ed. Besot is be- + sot. A sot is an old word for a heavy drinker, and so for a fool. The first picture was “made into a sot” — made foolish, often by drink.
