A beefburger is a round cake of minced beef, usually cooked and served in a bun — what many people, especially in American English, simply call a hamburger. British English likes beefburger because it says the meat is beef. Though actually, a hamburger was never made of ham; the name comes from Hamburg, the German city, and then English built other names on -burger (cheeseburger, and so on). In a café, beefburger, hamburger, and burger may all point to the same thing unless the menu marks chicken, fish, or a plant patty. The word is informal food English, more British than American. In Taiwan you will nearly always hear 漢堡; beefburger is the British menu word, not a different dish.
