- 1n/ˈbɛdəwɪn/a Bedouin (one person)貝都因人
A member of an Arab people who traditionally move from place to place across the desert, living in tents and keeping animals such as camels.
這個字指一個人。開頭通常大寫 B。它說的不是這個人現在住哪裡。它說的是他屬於哪個民族。傳統的畫面是一直在移動的生活。帳篷可以收起來。駱駝可以走到下一個有水的地方。一家人不固定住在一個點上。今天很多貝都因人已經住在城鎮裡,或者開卡車而不是騎駱駝。這個字一樣用在他們身上。複數常見的寫法是 Bedouins。
示範例句 · Example
Our guide in the desert was a Bedouin who grew up in a tent.
中文翻譯我們在沙漠裡的嚮導是一位貝都因人,他在帳篷裡長大。
This is the word for one person, and it is normally written with a capital B. What it tells you is not where somebody lives now but which people they belong to. The traditional picture is a life on the move: a tent that can be taken down, animals that can walk to the next water, a family that does not stay in one spot. Many Bedouin today live in towns or drive trucks rather than ride camels, and the word still applies to them. The plural you will usually see is Bedouins.

- 2n/ˈbɛdəwɪn/the Bedouin (the whole people)貝都因人(整個民族)
With 'the' in front of it and no -s on the end, the whole expression means the Bedouin people taken together as a group, and it is followed by a plural verb.
這是英文講一個民族時常用的一種寫法。一個人是 a Bedouin。整個民族是 the Bedouin。前面一定有 the,後面不加 s。動詞要用複數:the Bedouin have,不是 has。因為這個說法本身就已經指「全部的人」了。句子在談這個民族的歷史、土地、語言或生活方式時,就用這個形式。
This is a grammar move English makes with the names of peoples. One person is 'a Bedouin'; the people as a whole are 'the Bedouin', and you say 'the Bedouin have', not 'the Bedouin has'. Because it already means everybody, you do not add -s here. Use it when the sentence is about the group's history, land, language or way of life rather than about any one person.
