1. 1

If you are bedazzled by something, it is so bright, grand, or impressive that you are surprised and a bit mixed-up — your eyes and your judgement both wobble. A first night in a huge city, a stage full of lights, a salesman’s too-perfect offer: you can be bedazzled by all of these. It is stronger and more confused than merely “impressed.” is already “the light is too much”; bedazzled piles on a thorough be- and often reaches past light into show, wealth, or charm. Though actually English now has a second, more playful use. From a home craft machine called the Bedazzler, people say bedazzled of clothes and phones covered in cheap shiny stones. Younger internet talk may mean “stuck all over with sparkle.” That is a later stretch. The older and still central meaning is the one here: something knocks you sideways with how impressive it looks, and you do not see quite straight. The form bedazzled is often an adjective (“bedazzled by the lights”) from the verb bedazzle.
